Martín Revolo (Shulka), born in Lima, Peru, explores the intersections of mythology, surrealism, and abstract expressionism in his work. His art is an act of self-assertion, a dynamic expression of principle rooted in the connections between his creative practice and early life. For Revolo, inner necessity remains the driving force and sustaining energy behind his work—a wellspring of inspiration that fuels his visual narratives. Revolo’s paintings reside in the liminal space between dream and reality, where mythic archetypes and fragmented memories coalesce into striking, surreal compositions. Drawing from the emotive intensity of abstract expressionism, he layers gesture, color, and form to evoke psychological depth, while his fascination with mythology imbues his work with timeless, universal resonance. Each piece becomes a vessel for personal and collective myth-making, inviting viewers to uncover their own interpretations within the intricate weave of his imagery. Though aesthetics play a role, what truly defines Revolo’s style is his ability to unmask the "personal mythologies" embedded in both artist and audience. His work does not merely depict—it reveals, unraveling subconscious stories that linger beneath the surface. Whether through bold, expressive strokes or enigmatic, dreamlike symbolism, every creation carries a fragment of his narrative, yet remains open enough for others to find reflections of their own. Thoughtfully constructed yet intuitively charged, Revolo’s art bridges the intimate and the archetypal, transforming the canvas into a space where myth, emotion, and abstraction converge.

"My work travels through an experimental release of spontaneous energy—where the act of creation becomes the art, and the physical piece is the residue of that journey. Through this process, I uncover new technical and conceptual possibilities, stretching the limits of traditional painting, photography and music. My imagery exists between the real and the surreal, weaving narratives that evolve as I surrender to both conscious and subconscious impulses. It is in this state of fluidity, where thought transforms into image, that I feel most fully present."
